(7,432 posts)that they were virtually trapped into silence because Trumpy's GOP approves of him at a 85-90% rate, and that going against that kind of current means certain defeat in the next election. IOW, each GOPer who indicates that is also admitting that s/he is a coward and a spineless failure. The other faction of GOPer will double down on Trumpy's agenda and will approve of everything he does. They'll get elected in the most gerrymandered districts in the nation. But their party will lose and THEY will be subjected to criminal and ethics investigations.
I'm nearing my seventh decade, and I've never seen such visceral politics. It began with Gingrich in the 1980s, and has gotten worse by the years. But even in past years and election cycles, there was an understanding that on either end of the spectrum, there was an understanding that the Rule of Law took precedence over partisanship. The Trump Era changed that. Now, Republicans act as if dominance and control are more important than the laws meant to regulate actions. And Trumpy, the head of them all, has no reverence for the law and no interest in respecting it. So his value system, or lack thereof, trickles down to the GOP foot soldier. The drift toward possible Civil War is as much about race and white dominance as it's about pushing the law aside and focusing on raw power. Raw white power.

(3,076 posts)... more documentation and reporting on just what he did with his, "Contract On America". How it brought in the current class of, "businessmen first, statesmen last". I have said this for decades.

(11,885 posts)If only putin would allow them to now. Putin's got all the dirt on them now from election manipulation, and taking money from them, so he has them so compromised they can't, but in time these people involved will realize it'll only get better for them if they talk, and expose what's going on by them . If they don't . they face years in prison .
