DONALD TRUMP IS A 'RUSSIAN ASSET' OWNED BY THE MAFIA, AUTHOR CLAIMS IN NEW BOOK..........
In House of Trump, House of Putin: The Untold Story of Donald Trump and the Russian Mafia, veteran journalist and author Craig Unger names 59 Russians as business associates of Trump (who has claimed he has none) and follows the purported financial links between them and the Trump Organization going back decades.
.............
How much so-called kompromat do you believe the Russians have on Trump, how far back does it go, and what is the nature of it?
I am approaching things quite differently than looking for the pee tape. In a lot of ways, the kompromat is hiding in plain sight. I found 59 links between Trump and Russia. He said zero. I say 59. These cannot possibly be random or coincidental contacts. It evolves into something more than money laundering over time.
What is Manaforts alleged role? What does he know about Trump?
Manafort is an incredibly crucial link to Putins goals. He connected Trump directly to Putin's strategic objectives. One question people are not asking: Where is the Russian mafia money coming from? In my book, I identify two pipelines. One is the Ukraine energy trade, in which Mogilevich has a gas intermediary. They get gas at low prices and resell it at market prices, and through this, they were skimming $750 million a year off the Ukraine energy trade. They were getting all that money and wanted the political wherewithal to support it. Manafort was hired to assist Putin's candidate in Ukraine. He was paid in money that he had to launder. And some of that went through a shell company, and I tie that directly to Mogilevich.
How can Manafort hurt Trump?
If hes convicted, he can still flip. Manafort has known Trump for 30 years. He knows how the whole thing works.
.............
Which of your findings do you think Americans would find most shocking?
There is a Russian asset in the White House. He is an asset. I believe he is an agent, but it's hard to prove he is knowledgeable. When you look at the 59 Russians, some live in Trump Tower. The Russian mafia is a state actor, and it has direct ties to Russian intelligence, and they have been located in the home of the president of the United States!

(8,200 posts)The occupant of the White House is defined by one thing and only one $$$$$$. He has demonstrated throughout his entire life that he will do anything to get it. Cheat people, lie to them and throw them under bus if it threatens his bottom line. He is willing to collude with the most despicable people to enrich himself. He would have absolutely no hesitancy to betray his own country if he was threatened with the loss of his precious golden idol. An idol that he worships and cherishes more than his children or numerous female partners, I refrain from calling them his spouses, since that would imply that he has even a basic moral code. They have been nothing more than cheap trophies to be used for display and easily tossed to the gutter when they become tarnished and someone more useful comes along. He is the ultimate con-man without a hint of morals or compassion for this victims. .

(13,571 posts)We can ascribe all of his manifestations to that one "condition". His moral compass is gone. Remember what they used to say about Goldwater. "In your guts, you know he's nuts."
We can stop trying to figure him out. He's nuts. And we have to stop him from destroying everything. Not just America.

(2,596 posts)Whether it was funneled through the NRA or directly from mobsters, I couldn't say, but their complete, seeming lack of concern, or flat out obdurate refusal to address this critical issue proves it to me. Individuals like Flake and Ryan who are leaving their seats think that by leaving a burning, foundering ship like a couple of rats is going to inoculate them from any culpability later. The fact of the matter is they took this tainted spoil and are like a jewel thief taking the swag away from a successfully completed heist. I believe they're all involved in it up to their necks. Whether any of the Dems were involved, I wouldn't say, but it seems likely that many of them too were in on this.

(9,070 posts)with all these books coming out, the dossier looks tame in comparison. Now we know why they are squeezing Manifort and Cohen - and before this is over the entire tRump organization may come down. We'll see...
The larger question is the repubs!!! How far into the GOP pockets does the Russian money go? NRA, trips of US politicians to Russia, and honeypot women seem to go back years. Did the Russians hack the elections with GOP help?
Unger has not been on the talk shows many times yet - maybe we'll see him more in the future.

He had to get it from somewhere.
There is a very good reason he won't release his tax returns. Even Trump is not THAT stupid.

So far the one I think everyone should read is "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump." It's so important.

(81,534 posts)Unger spends much of his story connecting the dots between Trump and individual alleged Russian mobsters, such as David Bogatin, the pioneer of a gas tax scam, who bought five apartments in Trump Tower in 1984 for $6 million.
Not all the connections run so directly. One famous gangster, Semion Mogilevich, who was renowned for his talent of making dirty money look clean, looms over the entire narrative like an orchestra conductor. Mogilevich, whom FBI agents have called the boss of bosses, directed the expansion of the Russian mob into the United States in the early 1990s. And although there is no definitive evidence connecting him directly to Trump, according to Unger, a mountain of facts places him in Trumps corner of the real estate business.
As Unger tells it, Trump cant be totally unaware of the criminality surrounding him, and even if he were, that ignorance is no defense. Trump allowed himself to become compromised by Russia, years before he seriously entertained running for public office.
The men who used Trump for their illicit purposes ensnared him. They had ensured that he was beholden to Russias money, and its power, Unger writes. All largely unseen. With deniability.
There is abundant evidence in Ungers book that Trump made his business infrastructure his condos, his developments, his very name available to criminals and oligarchs trying to hide their ill-gotten gains, whether from tax collectors, investigators or the president of Russia. And thats a form of collusion, too. ...
But Unger is convinced that the Russians succeeded in their goal because they had a willing target, who seized on false news stories, propaganda and unflattering Democratic emails that Russia disseminated. Trump weaponized Russian disinformation without ever questioning its provenance. He even asked for more when he publicly told Russia to find Hillary Clintons personal emails.
Given Trumps narrow victory in states such as Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan states that were predicted to vote Democratic but were won by Trump with a margin of less than 1 percent, and which put him over the top in the electoral college, it is more than likely that the Russian interference made the difference, Unger writes.
