The Senate could solve a great deal of this oncoming crisis with one single vote.

They could vote to let the Special Counsel finish his investigation. Put it in writing. It doesn't do much good to just talk about it.

Also, prohibit interference in the investigation, with threat of a criminal penalty.

They are the US Senate. They can do whatever they choose to do.

Americans keep waiting for them to wake up and do their job.

No, they can't. It would be nothing but a symbolic move and wouldn't solve anything--unless the House does the same and the preznit signs it.

Now, if one or two Republican Senators jumped ship and became Ds, THAT would have a big effect. But none of them will, they'll just do some posturing and not run for re-election.
