Americans go crazy over cute, loving videos about cats and dogs. That's where our hearts really are. We adore love stories. But -- the press focuses on the killers and the mean, bad guys. Trump is just one example.

We have to get Democrats elected this Fall, and in the future. But couldn't we have a little more focus on what a loving society we really are.

People tend to hate other people.

We don't all, of course. But the impulse is, unfortunately, always there.

Fascists have long understood this - and it's definitely part of what's behind their recent resurgence in a number of different countries (including, saldy, our own).

There are so many good news stories, but 'if it bleeds, it leads' has captured the press since time immemorial. We don't hear about the cashier to kicked in a couple of bucks of his own money so a little boy who didn't have enough could get his favorite Ice Cream treat. Or the mailman who put out a plea on Facebook for a kid who wanted more junk mail to read because his family didn't have enough money to buy books and the library was too far away. Or the little boy in a white suburban neighborhood who waited every week for the trashmen because he loved their trucks and the trashmen (all black) who loved him back. And on and on and on.
