● We had the temerity to ask Nunes why he doesnt hold town halls or do meet-and-greets with anyone except wealthy donors. (For this, he went on a petulant rant.)
● We reported Nunes is an investor in a Napa Valley winery, owned by a friend, that was sued by an employee for civil rights violations, intentional infliction of emotional distress and sexual harassment following a fundraiser held on a yacht.
Never did the story imply that Nunes was present or had knowledge of the events. It simply reported on the lawsuit, and Nunes was given the chance to respond. Hes a part-owner of the winery and our Congressman. That makes it newsworthy.

(14,492 posts)anyone on planet Earth breaking St. Ronnie's 11th commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican."
They take it one step further now and just say "Thou shalt not speak ill of any Republican."
Every single one I've ever met is totally allergic to any criticism of their political beliefs. It truly represents a form of mental illness and is our most corrosive form of American bigotry.

(4,033 posts)The Fresno Bee was 'the' newspaper in the whole area. Fresno is to far north of LA to really care, to far south of SF/SJ to really care, and there is nowhere else close. As the famous quote normally attributed to Mark Twain goes, "Never pick a fight with someone who buys their ink by the barrel and their paper by the ton".
That editorial is gonna leave a mark.

(4,033 posts)We actually lived about 40 mi North, close to Bass Lake, in a tiny town called North Fork. For those not familiar with the area around Yosemite, Bass Lake featured prominently in Hunter S. Thompson's book "Hells Angels".
The only time we actually went to Fresno was if we had to do some major shopping (the closest mall was in Fresno) of I had to fly off to somewhere.

Winning that California seat will cap a tremendous election night for Democrats.

(10,252 posts)If he gets re-elected, I hope the Dems drag him before the ethics committee. There is a process in the House, whereby a member can be kicked out for cause.

(23,252 posts)The sooner we are done with the little traitor pr&ck, the better, IMHO! Then they can drag him in front of the Committee to ask him what his little escapades were about--why he visited the White House that night in such a secret rush, why he wants to know all the DOJ/Mueller probe "secrets" (it ain't about oversight, I can tell ya), etc. Then we can just hang him, bury him in a radioactive-waste dump, and be done with him.
