Here's a video with a textbook example of police racial profiling in Des Moines, IA...

Heads up, no one will be shot or beaten in this video, thank gawd. But even knowing that, it'll raise your blood pressure to watch this mess anyway.

It's clearly obvious that the only reason that the car was stopped was because the driver and passenger were black. There wasn't even a traffic infraction. There was no reasonable suspicion that any crime had been committed at all, other than the crime of existing in Des Moines, IA while black.

A complete fishing expedition.

After the cops flashed its lights on the vehicle and it came to a complete and immediate stop:

- The cops immediately and falsely accused the men of possessing weapons and narcotics

- Lied, saying that they "smelled" marijuana... There was no marijuana, the men didn't even smoke

- Repeatedly asked them if they owned the car

- Demanded the car's key fob be turned over

- Didn't even bother to run the driver's license, registration and insurance before body searching them and detaining them in the back of the squad vehicle

- Conducted a search of the vehicle without any consent whatsoever, including the empty trunk

- Repeatedly threatened them with arrest for asking why they were stopped in the first place

- Never gave any reason for the stop or why they were being detained other than saying, "Because I said so"

- Attempted to coerce a confession of having possessed narcotics when there were no drugs in the car at all

- And then watch out where the cop tried to gaslight the men and tried to buddy up with them at the end.

This is pretty much some of the worst policing I've ever seen in my entire life:

This is why they kneel. And yet, some wypipo will still have the nerve to question why black people can't trust the police. Of course, the Cops-Are-Never-Wrong crowd has already gone out of their way to defend this bullshit... Check out the video's YouTube comments, if you have the stomach.

Racial profiling is bad, unjust and incompetent policing, right there on video and as plain as the nose on your face.

Over a month ago. You know how the cops know they fucked up? They hold on to the body cam footage for as long as they can. In this case it got released after likely a protracted battle over it. If it wasn't for the kids mom being a community activist and seeking out stuff like this, we probably would've never seen the video.

One thing I like at the end is how the cop knowingly got the young man in the back of his car, and tried to gaslight him in to "agreeing" that cigarette ashes "could be shake." And to "agree" that it was effectively reasonable that the cop suspected something from him. Also trying to entrap the young man into saying he was "around" people who had been smoking marijuana.

This is a massive lawsuit and I hope this family squeezes the DSM police dry for all they're worth.

The fucked up part? Is if the young men made any sudden movements after he said he suspected a gun and the cop killed them, it'd save the city a lot of money in the long run. And if you think I'm being hyperbolic here, this was actually an argument effectively made by a guy running for office in CA: https://blavity.com/chilling-video-shows-california-sheriff-arguing-that-its-better-financially-to-kill-suspects

A lot of cops think this way. A lot of cops act this way.
