Rep. Eric Swalwell: I Am Considering Presidential Run After Midterm Elections

by Colby Hall | Aug 20th, 2018, 10:46 am

Rep. Eric Swalwell isn’t just a frequent contributor on CNN, at 37 years of age, he is also the youngest member of Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives. At a time when Democratic leadership is viewed as remarkably old, the young telegenic candidate might be viewed by some as a good candidate to run for the highest office.

Well, at least we know of one person who thinks he might be a good candidate: Eric Swalwell.

During a morning hit on CNN, Poppy Harlow asked if the California-based congressman had been spending so much time in Iowa because he was running for president. Seemingly to her surprise, Swalwell admitted that, after the midterms, he is going to consider the run. ”

“Right now, I’m helping candidates who are stepping up to protect our health care, paychecks, and the democracy,” adding “I’m inspired by so many new candidates who are bursts of new energy, ideas, and leadership.”

There was also a weird tweeted threat that Avenatti made to him. I have no idea what it was about.

If he runs and wins, he will have just turned 40 in the days after the 2020 election. He would be the youngest president. I think he is great and I could easily support him.

When asked about Avenatti running for Pres, Swalwell remarked that Avenatti lacks government experience.

Swalwell is very bright and focused and not afraid to speak out.
