I just received a newsletter from Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS). In it he describes meeting with Kavanaugh, stating that their discussion "affirmed he is a man of integrity and intellect with a deep respect for the Constitution. I look forward to his confirmation hearing next month."
After I finished screaming and throwing things around the room, I wrote the following message to Senator Moran:
"I just received your newsletter, in which you describe meeting with Supreme Court Nominee Kavanaugh. You state that you find him a man of 'integrity and intellect with a deep respect for the Constitution,' and that you look forward to his confirmation hearing next month. This is the same Judge Kavanaugh who, in a memo to Independent Counsel Ken Starr regarding then President Clinton, stated it was " ... our job to make his pattern of revolting behavior clear piece by painful piece." Yet, this is the same Judge Kavanaugh who wrote in a 2009 article for the Minnesota Law Review that (paraphrasing) presidents should not be distracted by civil lawsuits, criminal investigations or even questions from a prosecutor or defense attorney while in office. So which is it, Senator Moran? Should Democratic Presidents have their 'revolting' behavior investigated to the nth degree; while Republican Presidents should not be 'distracted' by lawsuits, investigations or questions from attorneys? It sounds like Judge Kavanaugh does not have the capacity to think beyond partisan politics, knows on which side his bread is buttered, and, therefore, would not be able to render judgments impartially or according to the Constitution. A confirmation for Judge Kavanaugh is a vote for a partisan judiciary. Vote carefully, Senator. This would NOT be the time to blindly vote along party lines."
I doubt seriously it will do any good, but I said my piece. Sometimes I hate living in Kansas.

"Thank you for contacting me about Judge Brett Kavanaughs nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States. I appreciate your writing to me on this important issue.
As you know, with such an evenly divided Supreme Court, one vote makes a big difference. Retired Justice Anthony Kennedy was frequently a key swing voteand often the deciding voteon some of the most important issues facing the Court and our country. Those issues included: basic health care for all Americans, protections that ensure clean air and water, holding the executive branch accountable, a womans freedom to make her own health care choices, protecting the fundamental right to vote, and marriage equality. "
It went on to list what his appointment would mean for the country and what she is doing to stop him.
There are protests Sunday all over the country protesting him. Here is some info...
On August 26, in more than 100 cities across the country, people will be attending rallies and protests against a nominee with ultra-conservative legal views on a range of issues. He has repeatedly argued the Supreme Court should put the president above the law. Given that Donald Trump is at the center of a criminal investigation he should not be allowed to pick his own judge and jury.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) has refused to ask for all documents relating to Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaughs tenure as White House staff secretary to President George W. Bush.
