Waiting for the jury to come back is the most excruciating part of any trial. You wonder what could they be doing? What could I have done better? Was it all not as clear as it seemed to me?
All you have is the knowledge that it feels so good when it quits hurting - except when it doesn't.
Sucks, huh?

(11,100 posts)I can't imagine the Prosecutors would offer much of a deal at this point unless Manafort made a really good proffer nailing Trump.
The bets are placed, the horses are rounding the club house turn. Nothing to do now but watch 'em run.

(3,784 posts)..........that after every trial, you'll think of at least 10 things you did wrong over the course of the trial. And that's when you usually start beating yourself up, telling yourself things like, "My client is going to jail because I didn't do a good enough job." It's a gut-wrenching experience. But the rush you get after a win is every bit as good as any I ever got when I was playing football. Then again, sometimes you get stuck with a case that's just a dead-bang loser and there's nothing you can do but try to make a deal. Losing those doesn't hurt as bad as losing one you thought you could win.
I agree with the OP. It's something that people who have never experienced will never fully understand.

(11,100 posts)If there is a good result, you suddenly forget about the ten things you did wrong. If there is a bad result, then not so much.
I don't mind (too much) losing the dead losers. The cases that scare me of those I "can't lose." Murphy will sometimes find a way. Of course that works the other way too. Sometimes Murphy gets the other guy and you win the case that can't be won.
