Cohen agrees to do 3 years w/o cooperating with government
Hopefully in his confession to the judge he will reveal some dirt on Trump
The Manafort jury can't come to agreement on a single charge sounds like a hung jury to me

(19,066 posts)The President's personal attorney just got prison time for paying off a porn star for Trump.
Single charge is a bad way to say 1 charge, they've agreed on 17 charges, and a single charge remains they cannot agree on yet.

(35,293 posts)They said they couldn't agree on a single charge
Strange way to word it if they've wrapped up 17 charges and are working on their last one
Maybe they can't agree on any of them
If Cohen does his time with his mouth shut that doesn't help is

(35,293 posts)I've heard the note read twice minus the last 3 words
Those words change the context completely and i feel better now

(23,761 posts)they would have said we can't come to an agreement on any counts
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)For some reason, one of the popular news outlets quoted only a portion of the jury's question, which left the meaning ambiguous: Was the jury unable to come to consensus on even a single count of the 18 counts against Manafort, or were they unable to come to consensus on just one count, the other 17 being unanimous?
It's almost as if that outlet quoted the jury's question incompletely on purpose.
dawg day
(7,947 posts)What's that about? He thinks they're all going to agree on every count?
This judge sure is troublesome.
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)The verdict form the parties have agreed to didn't list out each and every count of the 18 counts against Manafort, and redrafting the verdict form would be tedious, not to mention heightening the prospect of an error being made by the jury in filling out a long, complex verdict form. If the jury has told the judge that they've gotten to consensus on every count but one, the judge probably wants a nice, tidy verdict on all counts if he can get it.

(884 posts)If what Avenatti is tweeting about the developments of the day opening the path for him to depose Trump under oath, then that very likely means that the relative leniency of the sentence Cohen appears to be facing will be insignificant compared to what else the plea deal means. Any way you slice it though, I think Cohen going down, particularly with regard to campaign finance violations and with the evidence that exists that trump knew about the payments in question, I think this day is going to turn out to be very significant indeed.

lame54
(35,293 posts)The quote of the jury note that I heard twice was incomplete. They left off the last 3 words and it completely changed the context
