It truly is. I can't predict exactly what is going to happen, but I sort of think something is about to happen. I will say this, though:
Trump's weekend this week is gonna suck, bigly. He has no good news to balance all the bad. The only real ally he has is Giuliani, and he's freaking hopeless.
So, off Trump will go to his golf resort again tomorrow. But it's not going to be a good weekend, I predict. He'll talk to Hannity, who is also not going to have good news for him. The palace is all coming down around him, and he has no clue what to do next.
With that in mind, perhaps everyone will mention resignation as a viable option to him. Just get the thought planted as a solution to his misery. Just say, "I Quit," Donwald. It's so easy to do. Someone will pack up your shit for you and get it to whichever temporary abode you select. They'll even fly you to wherever you want to go on AF1, as a goodbye present.
Life sucks, doesn't it? The answer is to walk away, dude. Just walk. Don't look back. Don't worry about it. Pence will pardon you if need be, but the sigh of relief the nation will breathe will probably me that they won't come for you with the handcuffs.
Just walk away!

(146,338 posts)Putin would be relieved, frankly, I'm sure. As a resigned President, he'll keep his SS protection. Someone should let him know that.
Nobody will care if he goes. Everyone will just be relieved.

(146,338 posts)He hasn't been charged with anything so far. They don't have to charge him with anything, if they choose not to. They can charge everyone around him and try them. If they charged Trump and convicted him, Pence would pardon him, guaranteed.
Trump can skate at this point. He can simply resign, walk away and stop taking phone calls. He could isolate himself anywhere in the world, really. He could lock himself inside Trump Tower or one of his resorts and never appear in public again.
And if you don't think that would seem like an attractive option at some point, you're wrong. It may seem that way right now, with everyone around him going down.
Like I said, this is going to be a rough weekend for him. There is zero good news. There is a ton of bad news. There's a very simple solution to it all, and he knows just what it is.
He has walked away from countless things in his life already. What's one more?

(60,010 posts)Good news: He was tweeting at 1 AM this morning. Not sleeping. Usually doesn't fire up the ole Twitter account until after morning news.
Bad News: He can't be a loser. He will do anything before walking away, esp. if he thinks that means anyone...like Mueller, for one...will win.
He doesn't do win-win. His wins have to mean you lose.
Only way to make him leave will be a bigger prize. And the god spot is taken.
There was a very fascinating article last few days about how a severe narcissist thinks.
One of the key points was what we don't see, which is his constant mental turmoil of negative thoughts about himself.
It seemed to be much like a schizophrenic experiences voices all the time.
Trump will, if he can, destroy everything he can on the way out.

(60,010 posts)That "red line" he blathered about concerning Don Jr. has been crossed, Trump did not blink.
I think he might feel ....something....about Ivanka going to jail, pretty sure it would only be related to his letch on
for her, tho.

(146,338 posts)He has walked away from many deals in his life. He knows how to do that.

(12,344 posts)But when the pressure is really on, he declares victory and goes home. His farewell speech will rank right up there with Palin's, "I am quitting because I am not a quitter."
But I do think he will try to hold on until after the election.

(5,995 posts)Maybe let him take a foreign trip on AF1 and just ban it from returning to any airport but Miami and he can keep it as a parting gift.
eta: or just strip it of all the security devices on a trip to Mar-a-lago and ground it.

(146,338 posts)Nothing that elaborate is necessary. All he has to do is say, "I quit." Everything else will take care of itself.
"I hereby resign the office of President of the United States, effectively immediately."
The Secret Service will handle the rest. It's guaranteed.

(10,749 posts)I can't help but wonder what Cohen might have on him, and whether Hannity might also be sweating bullets.

(30,613 posts)So Hannity probably has some big-ass skeleton in his closet. And SDNY likely know what it is.

(146,338 posts)If that's the case, they'll forward the information to whatever district has jurisdiction. Lots of cooperation in the DOJ between offices.

(5,914 posts)And then he'll end up in jail or drinking a polonium cocktail.
I used to think he would leave if he no longer felt the job was "fun" for him. But he's clearly miserable and fighting for his life. He simply will not leave office under his own power. It's going to take SEAL Team 6 or heart disease to get him out of office when the endgame comes.

(15,751 posts)Mobster Paul [DeNiro] late for a big mob meeting. First, 'Jelly' says his boss has been 'detained'
Then, don't remember exactly how concept of resignation came up, but the mobster response was clear, best as I remember it, 'THIS IS NOT THE FUCKING CIVIL SERVICE WE'RE IN!!!'
