Manafort juror: Mueller team's star witness 'deserves a special place in Hell'

The government’s star witness in the case against ex-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort “deserves a special place in Hell,” one of the jurors told Fox News in an exclusive interview, while revealing the jury largely discounted his testimony during the dramatic trial.

Juror Paula Duncan gave a behind-the-scenes account to Fox News on Wednesday, after the jury returned a guilty verdict against the former Trump campaign chairman on eight financial crime counts and deadlocked on 10 others. She revealed that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team was one holdout juror away from winning a conviction against Manafort on all 18 counts.

But Duncan, who described herself as an avid supporter of President Trump, said she ultimately considered Manafort guilty of the charges against him despite her misgivings about the case itself.

Still, she panned the prosecution’s star witness, Rick Gates, the defendant's former business partner, as “nervous” and doing whatever he could to save himself.

I think we know now who the hold out juror was.

Manafort juror says 1 holdout prevented 18-count conviction
The Associated Press
Published: Aug 23rd, 2018 - 4:06pm (EDT)

WASHINGTON (AP) — A juror in Paul Manafort's financial fraud trial says a lone holdout prevented the jury from convicting the onetime Trump campaign chairman on all 18 counts.

Jurors repeatedly tried to persuade the holdout to "look at the paper trail" but she insisted there was reasonable doubt, juror Paula Duncan told Fox News.

"We didn't want it to be hung, so we tried for an extended period of time to convince her," Duncan said, adding that the four days of deliberations were so heated that there were "tears" among the 12 jurors. "But in the end, she held out and that's why we have 10 counts that did not get a verdict."

The federal jury on Tuesday found Manafort guilty on eight counts; the judge declared a mistrial on 10 counts the jury was deadlocked on. The jury verdict form , which was made public Thursday, confirmed Duncan's account.

The form also showed that jurors at one point appeared to have been unanimous on convicting Manafort of two additional charges of failing to report foreign bank accounts but scratched out the check marks over guilty. They then wrote in that it was 11-1, with "no consensus" on those counts.

Duncan, a self-described Trump supporter who was photographed for the Fox report in a red "Make America Great Again" hat, said she and 10 other jurors were prepared to find Manafort guilty of each count in the indictment. Duncan said she considered the charges brought by special counsel Robert Mueller's team to be legitimate and considered the evidence "overwhelming."

(Enough that she voted guilty to all 18 counts), Just imagine what this chick will think when Mueller releases his investigation into that Russher thing. Disillusioned won’t begin to cover it.

. . . and the Gates type is the type you voted for. Still, she did do the right thing, - and may well be harshly harassed for it. Might be a longterm continuing education program for that trump voter.

i'm glad Mz. Duncan found a way to see past his shittiness and looked at the actual evidence.

some people have said they think she was the actual holdout even though she says she voted guilty .

She had misgivings about the case then voted to convict on all counts? Then her misgivings were completely wrong.

Does she admit to that anywhere?
