When someone starts saying that the Emperor has no clothes, watch the support fall away. Happened to Nixon, too.

(945 posts)The GOP House member who is being quoted is Tom Cole of Oklahoma for those of you who don't want to click through two links just to find out the name of the politician.

(56,828 posts)Ford pardoned Nixon to heal the country and move forward.
That brought us the Reagan corruption and war on the middle class.
Then, we allowed George HW Bush to pardon a bunch of people involved with Iran-Contra so we could heal the nation and move forward
That brought us W Bush and the Iraq War and the only person punished with Scooter Libby.
And, from W, we descended to Trump.
No More FUCKING healing the nation this time!!!
Maybe if we wanted to heal the nation we should throw the lot in the White House in jail for life and then we can move on and move forward?

(37,748 posts)is damned encouraging to me. From trump and Giuliani down to Fox editorials and RW message boards, it seems no one demographic is using that word more than the right wing.
Granted, they're using it as an the precursor to some fanboy's post-apocalyptic survival fantasy resultant response to it... but they're using the word. Over and over again. Putting the word into people's heads. Adding the word to the national discussion.
Bless their little idiot hearts. They're a couple beans short of good soup.

(7,522 posts)People can attack him for not saying something sooner but for the dam to break there first have to be cracks and Cole is highly respected among repub officials. I think many of his fellow repubs feel the same way in private but are unafraid to say so. The fact he is saying this in public is a positive. Remember we haven't heard from Mueller yet. Wait till that boulder drops.

The GOP is playing both sides of the fence. In other words, they're doing whatever they have to do to fool the rubes who were dumb enough to elect them last time. They don't actually believe the lies they're spewing. They're just saying whatever idiot voters will eat up in order to get re-elected.
