When Trump resigns, it will only harden the delusions of his followers

With no testimony, Trump will be assumed to be the innocent victim of that super-liberal Mueller. He'll continue to declare no collusion, many will believe him and nothing will be resolved.

The un-civil un-war continues.

Even the hardest core will shrink over time.

Nixon and Hitler still have admirers today but they aren't much of a force.

he immediately lost Republican majority support. Soon, very few Republicans had more than a vague memory of Nixon himself. No apparent memory of the 9-0 Supreme Court decision, very little interest in the books Nixon subsequently wrote, . . .

Reagan's main advantage being he gave conservatism a presentable face. It's been downhill ever since.

Reagan won because he was real. He believed in America. He told people he was gonna make it great again coming out of a disastrous four years of Jimmy Carter and Watergate before that.

they will look for a new leader. And that new leader will be smarter and cleaner than Trump. Be ready for it.

They've never been an important voting block. It's always been about the undecideds. We need to be focused on these people if democrats are going to win in November.

Back to the fringes they go, whispering their bigotry to other shadow-dwellers instead of proudly shouting it out in public as they have been since this POS came onto the scene.

The Dump zealots I've encountered are beyond any point of reason, so there's no saving them anyway. You could have a video of Dump planning 9/11 with bin Laden and his worshipers would love it, as it would just show how far their deity would go to own the libs.

For many of them, all we can do is wait for them to die off as they continue to get older.

There is some truth to what you say, but there is also truth that some Trump supporters were drawn in because he was an outsider - someone different. For many in this crowd, it will simply reinforce what they already knew - all politicians are crooked. These people will likely become disillusioned and withdraw from the process. Many did this after Watergate.

Even in the unlikely event of a full-on Trump impeachment and removal - the Republican party will live on and the conservative movement will continue.
