Stock up on snacks and 'drinks' DUers.
They will be penniless pariahs when they leave prison.

(4,858 posts)...alas. When they get out, they'll have book deals, right-wing welfare, plushy jobs given them by 1%ers who will always regard them as martyrs...etc, etc, etc. It's only the poor, the dispossessed, and of course the people of color, who end up penniless in this society after prison.

(13,569 posts)...but someone mobby could likely be relegated to protective custody in perpetuity, and that means solitary. And even then, it's possible for the Russians to get to the prisoner somehow. That's a night terror.

(34,661 posts)Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan have gone into hiding. It is after all,all about the Money from fat cat donors like Sheldon Adelson, who just cut a check for 25 million to McConnell this week towards the RNC Senate reelection fund. He also gave Ryan 20+ million the day the Tax Bill pasted.
This is all about protecting the Oligarchs.

(17,160 posts)Early Saturday here. The Friday news dump gave us Trump's accountant flipping. In an hour I'm heading up to the Murray River for ten days - and will have NO INTERNET ACCESS!!!
By the time I return I fully expect him to be deceased, deranged (and committed), impeached or indicted.
This last week, been thinking a lot about how the end game will play out. Cohen has flipped but he has enough years ahead of him to change his ways; same with George PapaD and Rick Gates. Trump will die in disgrace - he's too old to be rehabilitated, even if he wanted to. The best part - for the rest of their lives those three fuggers, Uday, Qusay and Marie Antoinette will live the rest of their miserably useless lives in shame, tied to a name that reeks of corruption and cruelty.
See ya when I get back.

But not for long I hope. He's a hard-right idiot. Next federal election is due by May 2019 or before. Labor party is looking good.

(82,849 posts)This job isn't finished because a few people go to prison or because a couple of people lose their elected offices. There's a corruption of our system and country that needs to be taken out, root and branch. After Joe McCarthy died and the Red Scare dwindled, we didn't take care of it. So we got Richard Nixon. Nixon resigned, but we didn't take care of it. So we got the Iranian revolution followed by the October surprise and Iran/contra. We were working on that when Poppy Bush pardoned his cronies in the dead of night on Christmas Eve 1992 after he had lost re-election. Then we got Bush the Stupider, invasions and occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the Great Fiscal Meltdown of 2008. But then we decided to look forward to the future, not backwards to the past, because we didn't want to criminalize political differences. Then we got the Trump administration.
If we don't address this, right fucking now, I don't know that the United States will survive the next wave of Republican corruption. It's going to be tedious and messy, a labor to compare with the cleaning of the Augean Stables. But it's gotta be done. Whole political careers will be devoted to it, when those worthies would be more inclined to do something else. But none of those utopian ideals will be achieved, or if achieved will last, until we've dealt with what's gone before.
