I hope this is true and his wishes are followed.

(17,984 posts)They just showed Trump ranting because John stopped him from repealing Obamacare!
Think of the irnoy. How many others would die if that passed. Again ,John was a hero.
I remember Sherrod Brown flying after his Mothers funeral to cast the deciding vote on the ACA. McCain saved it from being destroyed.

(53,061 posts)He could have stopped it with a single word and by backing up Clinton he eliminated dissent by the Republicans.

(3,335 posts)himself and everything he said would be a lie. McCain knows Obama is a good man and a decent and honorable man. He deserves a proper eulogy and apparently McCain did not think his GOP party was up to the task.

(7,220 posts)to speak at his eulogy? Especially when said person is a 5-time draft dodger who's infamous for disrespecting war veterans and making everything about himself. Trump would have turned McCain's funeral service into a MAGAt-style campaign rally.

(15,286 posts)even think about disregarding the wishes of the deceased. My mom's brother did not even want an obituary in the newspaper where he lived most of his life and I honored that request.

(14,173 posts)She makes a statement like that and then on the View she bristles at anyone bad-mouthing the Dear Leader.
Just like a cult where the leader demands that even children submit and have more loyalty to the leader than their own parents.

(8,964 posts)Trump has no honor whatsoever and is not worthy to attend the funeral of a man that he insulted in a vile manner.

(21,646 posts)Trump will probably tweet something about how he had the largest inaugural crowd, far more than Senator McCain ever had.

Obama I think, genuinely and honestly respected McCain for being able to walk a path (of military service and the punishing results that comes with) that he himself knew he was never interested in walking in such a direct manner.
(On Edit) And it will remind the vast amount of Americans who DIDN'T vote, why they fucking should have. And THAT will drive the MAGAt Trump-Humpers absolutely crazy with lovely to watch complete impotent fury.
I'm SO looking forward to it!=)
As an aside, I've read that one of McCains good and real friends in government work was actually Hillary Clinton (who under the right circumstances had a very good sense of humor in a way that McCain could appreciate).
Be doubly awesome if she got an invite.
