I know Rosie O'Donnell has spoken supportively of her. What do folks on DU think?

(102,277 posts)Even assuming a Dem in 2020, by the time they'd get to her pardon, she'd already likely have served most of it. That doesn't mean restoring some voter rights would not be useful, but in reality, given circumstances, there's not much more to hope for her.

(2,857 posts)But like others said, she will be nearly done.
Joe Arpaio walking free while she waits is terrible imo.

(102,277 posts)especially in the all important "honeymoon" period when they have the best chance of getting legislation and other policies through. Even if, by chance, they elevated pardons and commutations as a priority, by that time she'd have served her full sentence.

(28,979 posts)He pardoned Chelsea Manning. So, yes, I say a government whistleblower should be protected for exposing information about illegal government actions.

(53,061 posts)Manning was not a "whistle blower" but released over a half a million documents, most of which she never read, including documents related to diplomatic negotiations that were intended to reduce conflict.
There are laws to protect "whistle blowers" who take action against a specific government action.
