It's clear he's a psychopath and pathological narcissist, and he won't publicly cop to being defeated or "hurt". He'll deny it all the way. So we'll just have to relish the leaks that tell us how afraid he is privately.

You and I would be. Any "normal" person would.
But he is, as you state, a "pathological narcissist" and believes himself to be untouchable.
So great is his sickness, he will be absolutely shocked and stunned when they slap the cuffs on.

Deep inside he is far more scared than you or I would be. He doesn't believe he is untouchable, he just intensely wishes it were so. His biggest fear is that you and I will see through the veneer and find out that he is, in fact, vulnerable.

For me the only think comparible is W. I was born in 1971 so I don’t remember Watergate. But in 2006 when the GOP got wiped out and the Iraq debacle was in full bloom I was licking my chops. It wasn’t the same as a presidential election but I knew W was effectively finished at that point. What I didn’t know was the economic meltdown caused by the GOP would add a bunch of piling on that none of us wanted or needed a couple years later. But that night in 2006 I was on cloud 9.
