It's no wonder the republicans in congress won't go against trump. There are 2 big reasons...

1. They have taken mucho money from Russia for their campaigns.

2. trump is the mob personified, not only New York mob, but combined with the Russian mob.

Who in their right mind would buck the mob??? Much less the American/Russian mob.

edited to add:
By running and stealing the presidency, trump has now given the law enforcement a way to get into his books. Biggest mistake he could make. Now they can bring down a goodly share of the perps.

Remember the RNC servers were hacked too. And whatever the hackers found has never been released, but it may well have produced leverage against some, perhaps many, of the congressional republicans.

Mueller and SDNY are 3 steps ahead of Trump, who says he is such a "smart person".

At what point does the mob (American or Russian) decide Rump is a major liability and declare him free game? You know the FBI is tracking mobsters here in the US. It makes you wonder if they are getting any chatter about how Don the Con wears a size 45 suit (that's mob speak for "Wack him with a 45 caliber to make sure he stays down" ).

Any president will simply be told 'you can't you're not allowed' if the secret service deems a threat situation to be too high.
That having been said...

One of the earliest reports I read on who Robert Mueller really is at his professional core, came to the conclusion that the result of this independent inquiry is that the Russian mob as it exists in the New World is about to be destroyed for AT LEAST A GENERATION.

And Putin won't like that...not one little bit.

What if Rump gives up a few mob secrets, testifies against some big names? They made a HUGE mistake putting him into the single most high profile job in the US. If Mueller plays it right, this could wind up being the largest mobster haul on record. Putin must be like this:

Gotta remember the Russian people have been so propagandized that it's only about 25% over there that's truly 'woke' to what their leader really is.

I would love nothing more than for that spell to be broken, but unless the mobsters get pissed and off him, that ain't gonna happen.

Over the last few decades, they've nurtured a rabid rightwing mob of morons. Republican politicians live in cowardly fear of crossing these kkkonstituents and their manipulative media provocateurs. The worst among them actually throw more gasoline on the fire.

We're all put here on this planet with capability to lift society higher or drag it down into the dirt. Republicans have chosen poorly.

Russia Hacked 'Older' Republican Emails, FBI Director Says

Since hackers stole emails from the Democratic National Committee and dispersed them across the internet last summer, the world has waited for a parallel leak of Republican secrets. Now on the other side of the election, that second reveal still hasn't materialized. But FBI director James Comey has now told Congress new details of the Republican prong of those political intrusions, which US intelligence now believe were carried out by the Russian government: The attackers penetrated GOP organizations, and also stole Republican National Committee emails, albeit ones less current than those stolen from the DNC.

***

That Russian hackers did penetrate some Republican servers but never leaked that information was one factor that led US intelligence agencies to conclude that the Kremlin's hacking operation was expressly intended to help elect Donald Trump, according to director of national intelligence James Clapper.

"Does the [intelligence community]'s conclusion that the Russians sought to assist President-elect Trump’s campaign depend on an assessment, then, that the Russians covertly collected information primarily from Democratic sources but some Republican sources as well, but only chose to release the derogatory information from the Democratic sources?" asked Senator Susan Collins.

"That's correct," answered DNI Clapper.
