Unlike Kerry and Gore to some extent, Obama is playing the game the GOP has been playing for several election cycles. He's hitting them hard and fast on issues that they thought were strengths of theirs. Kerry was switboated and Gore was made fun of, but Obama is hitting them right where it counts, calling their candidate and their positions "Killers". Killers of jobs, killers of growth, and even killers of the uninsured who lost everything to their bloodthirsty greed. Obama has ads featuring women saying point blank, "If Rmoney wins, Planned Parenthood will be shut down and women's rights to choose will be infringed upon". The republican response to that, "sure but you make us sound like bad guys when YOU say it like that".
Obama's fighting back and even taking the offensive (crazy, no) and he's winning as a result and it is severely pissing off all those on the right. Rove has basically been Newtered and pushed to the impotent fringe. Fox screams "no fair he's being a meanie" and has been forced to run against him by using the failed techniques from the last election...He's Black you know. They cant even run the religion angle on him because to try to call Obama anything other than a christian is to leave Rmoney exposed on the same front.
If he keeps it up he's guaranteed 4 more years in our White House.

I was speaking of bullies in general. The last thing bullies want is a fair fight because what they "fear" is it being discovered that they don't have what it takes to win. They "solve" that potential problem by preying upon those who appear to be either too scared or too vulnerable to fight back.
Mitt thought that defeating Obama would be as simple as damming him with both his race and Bush II's sins. Mitt's fatal error was in not realizing that he has far more vulnerabilities than Obama, who naturally started preying upon them purely in self-defense. And what is the Romney camp's response? To paraphrase the title of this very thread, "He's fighting back, and he's winning -- NO FAIR!!!"
Bullying is wrong. Bullying back is when you have no other line of defense is a line of defense.

Republicans are getting a taste of their own medicine. I am loving this. They aren't used to being back on their heels.

(42,290 posts)I think you're right. Look at all the howls of GOP protest at Obama's killer ads and use of Harry Reid as a surrogate attack dog.
Using their own tactics against them while staying ON MESSAGE with a bigger policy point.
I love it when a plan comes together.

(13,466 posts)So often, Democrats believe the truth will prevail. Well, it won't, not unless it is offered up in no uncertain terms. I am so glad the President isn't mincing words, there is so much at stake.
It is easy to forget about the aging justices on the Supreme Court, and how that institution affects the lives of everyone in the country and even around the world! How many more people would be alive and well today if it hadn't been for the court's decision in favor of Bush in 2000? We will never know, but I'd imagine Al Gore would have done a Hell of a lot better on that front than Bush.
Now is no time to be nice.
