A Cancer on the Presidency (WashPost)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-cancer-on-the-presidency/2018/08/23/e0b7fad4-a710-11e8-97ce-cc9042272f07_story.html?utm_term=.8d84d897eb1f

<snip>
This is different from our daily dose of the president’s outrageous tweets and attacks. It is an inflection point in the Trump presidency. He has been credibly accused, not of violating civic norms, but of personal involvement in criminal law-breaking. If Trump were not the president, he might well be indicted, convicted and face jail time.

His violation of civic norms, by the way, is not a minor matter. The payment to Stormy Daniels was made 12 days before the election. This timing indicates not the prevention of personal mortification, but an attempt to deny voters relevant information. As a result, the 2016 presidential election will always have an asterisk — “outcome may have been influenced by Russian hacking and campaign fraud.”

<snip>
Every time we gain a peek into the inner workings of Trump world, we see a leader with the ethics of an Atlantic City casino owner who surrounds himself with people chosen for their willingness to lie and cheat at his bidding. A world in which Paul Manafort is “a very good person.” A world in which payoffs and election tampering are all in a day’s work.

Left to his investigation, Mueller will expose this world to the light. And the choice for Congress is likely to be clear: Impeach, or tolerate massive corruption.

Merely pointing out the Rethugs not only tolerate massive corruption -- they thrive on it.

In other words, any R who wants to continue their political career will not act in the best interest of our country by impeaching this POtuS.

Then maybe the cockroaches will scatter. We might be able to squash a few and chase the rest away.

How incompetent a "businessman" do you have to be to lose money owning a CASINO, for God's sake?

Unless, of course, the business of the casino wasn't really gambling and someone badly misread the Dollar-Ruble exchange rates. Or WAY too much was spent on cans of gold RustOleum to redecorate the toilets.

Trump just was able to slide in and fulfill some fantasies the Republicans go to bed masterbating about and he was one of them. I think that’s why the blind eyes and rampant crickets.

prosecuted and sent to prison. This dirty, filthy poor excuse of a man and the grifters who enable him must also be held to account. If not, like Russia, we will be nothing more than a mafia State.

American citizen. They’ve held hearings and heard testimony that are considered secret. So they know a lot about what has gone on behind the scenes and continues to happen. When you get right down to it, they know a lot because some of them were INVOLVED or benefited from money or assistance from the same sources that helped tRump.

They (the Republican) Congress critters that keep bobbing and weaving and ducking their responsibilities are trying to save their own lizard skins. I don’t understand how they think they out run the truth because is is nipping at their heels. They see where tRump is in this mess and so they have to know the whole thing is going to burst open like a rotting corpse. Pretty soon the entire world is going to know the ugly truth and who is guilty. It will bring on a crisis, no doubt, but until we lance the boil, or cut out the cancer (to continue that analogy) we won’t cure the problem.

Are still investigating. They now want Cohen to testify again.

Burr is not going to ruin his reputation for trash like Trump.

Nunes is knee deep in the Russian mess.

I mean, the republicans pick a five-time draft-dodging casino hustler with a track record of lying and cheating, and super stanky connections to the russian mob, and they put him in charge. There's your stinking republican family values in action right there - basically PISSING all over honesty, integrity, decency, fairness, and loyalty to the USA.
