response to Rmoney's latest outrage:

We are betting that a substantive campaign conducted on the high ground and focused primarily on jobs and the economy will trump a campaign that is designed to appeal to our worst instincts, Fehrnstrom said.
Replied Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith: The Romney campaigns faux outrage over an ad run by an outside group separate from our campaign rings extremely hollow.
Mitt Romney won the Republican primary only by tearing down each of his opponents with ruthlessly negative campaigning, including ads funded by outside allies.
When the Romney campaign finally reaches the high ground, we look forward to greeting them there, the aide added.

(1,374 posts)...I'm not sure why she pointed to his negative ads in the Repub primary. There are plenty of examples of ads that blatantly lie about Obama from the Romney campaign and PACs that are more recent and more relevant to point out his hypocrisy for whining about negative ads.
Maybe she did say more and pathetic Politico only chose to print that part? This article is very biased.

(20,136 posts)The Repubs are already divided on Romney, so continuing to bring up the primaries helps to keep them that way.
Reminding the Newt voters, Perry voters, etc. what Romney did to their guy will remind them that they really don't like Romney. Saying "Romney is attacking us [Obama]" will probably have them uniting behind Romney to defend him.

And I have a feeling there is much juicier stuff waiting to happen that they have stowed away. It's a fight for lives, literally, and I think the President and his people are going to let go of all the artillery possible to prevent the Robbin' Hoods victory.
Damn, he's (the Pres) got good people working with him.
