Love Donna...

(7,904 posts)It is particularly puzzling given the reasons most people disliked her; Rose Tyler should also be in last place then.
Nitwit--- Rose Tyler was even a bigger one.
Sense of entitlement--- Rose even worse
Annoying--- Rose again
I don't get it. List of character flaws that leave Amy in last place, yet people vote for the companion who had the same flaws times ten.

(10,602 posts)I always liked Sarah Jane. She was on with Pertwee and Tom Baker and really added to their episodes. She seemed to be a very beautiful person. It was sad to see her go during the Baker era.
As far as I am concerned all the companions added to the series in one way or another. I also like Jo who was with Pertwee before Sarah Jane.
But that is the charm of the Dr Who series it could always be refreshed in so many ways.

(3,709 posts)Was quite surprised, and there is much about her I liked...must admit, I liked Rory more. I never saw her as a nitwit, or having a sense of entitlement...annoying...definitely at times. I just didn't like the story line with the baby and who the baby turned out to be.
Rose...worn thin quickly for me....but I dearly love Donna. She was her own person, never allowed the Doctor to overshadow her and never backed down from him, yet she adored him.
No, Rose is definitely not my favorite...very annoying.

(10,602 posts)I have watched Dr Who ever since it came to PBS in Denver. I video taped every episode they played here. I could watch Dr Who for months. And I have all the new series on DVD and Blu Ray. I even met Peter Davidson at a Who convention here.
It is by far the best sci fi series in the history of television. It's format makes the stories and characters almost infinite. The genius is that every new actor who plays the Doctor brings his own interpretation. Now if the Doctor were to regenerate and be a woman, that would be interesting.
Anyway Dr Who is one place to escape in this madness of our election cycle. Mitt Romney would make a very interesting character for Dr Who to tangle with. He has many of the characteristics of Dr Who villains. Maybe Romney could be The Master. He has about as much regard for truth and good as The Master did.

(46,335 posts)Sarah was the proverbial "damsel in distress."
Leela pulled the Doctor's fat out of the fire many times.

(101,321 posts)Sarah Jane was relatively independent. Leela's 'noble savage' got a bit same-y, after a while.

(12,723 posts)My personal favorite is the late Mary Tamm's Romana but I was watching a Sarah Jane one just yesterday. Have a Leela from Netflix for later tonight.

(10,602 posts)Mary Tamm was really classy in the Tom Baker Season that was all about "the key to time". I thought that it was one of the best seasons of the Baker era. She was a very classy looking companion. She was just before Lalla Ward, who Tom Baker later married.
I need an escape. All this political madness is sometimes too much. I may start watching some of this series just to blank out.
What happened to her and when? She never really participated in conventions from what I know.

(22,308 posts)I hate to admit it but this is a tough choice for me.
Sarah got K-9.Plus she got her own show. Can't Rose have this? The poor girl has to live in an alternate universe. Seriously, hasn't she suffered enough?
