Did Mitt Romney just cry "Uncle"?

"Mitt Romney appears to be seeking an agreement with the Obama campaign to remove his business record from the conversation, a sign that the repeated attacks on his tenure at private equity firm Bain Capital may be getting under the presumptive Republican presidential candidate's skin.

NBC's First Read has the following excerpt from Romney's interview with Chuck Todd, conducted Thursday as part of a forthcoming documentary on MSNBC, in which he said he would like a pledge with Obama barring "personal" attack ads:

“[O]ur campaign would be-- helped immensely if we had an agreement between both campaigns that we were only going to talk about issues and that attacks based upon-- business or family or taxes or things of that nature."

[...]

“[W]e only talk about issues. And we can talk about the differences between our positions and our opponent's position.” Romney said of his own campaign: “[O]ur ads haven't gone after the president personally. … [W]e haven't dredged up the old stuff that people talked about last time around. We haven't gone after the personal things.”

And its driving him nuts for the peasants to be demanding answers.

He's not waiting to be a god over some other planet, he's going to be the god over THIS planet. It is his destiny.

Oh, yeah. Right, Mr. Nominee of the party who slammed our guy as a terrorist with a fake birth certificate, last time, and slimed the war hero we ran 4 years ago before that.

We're not gonna talk about your well-documented past as a businessman, never mind the fact that "businessman" is the thing you're supposed to be running on.

I read the article and didn't see anything about a concession on the Romney side. They just made demands with no reciprocation. That is not how a deal works.

Any chance they would agree to sane spending limits and/or a "repeal" of Citizens United? Maybe stop his blatant lying about President Obama?

Naturally......I have doubts. Romney seems to basically be asking for the Obama campaign to unilaterally disarm. Don't think the Dems will bite.

But then again, Romney's lived a lifetime benefiting from changes in longstanding rules--often rule changes put in place to help him win whatever game he's at. In fact, the current Republican governing philosophy is all about manipulating banking and finance and oil-drilling and medical care and environmental rules and regulations so that a few can benefit in dollars at the expense of the general well being of the country.

This is why Romney's losing and will likely lose in November--he has no experience in winning except when the deck is stacked in his favor. The Republican drive for power now is all about tweaking up new rules to further drain dollars out of the economy for the benefit of a tiny sliver of the population.
