I have read this article over and over and I see a net gain of 500 jobs. Please read it and tell me what you think.

And it's up more than 8 percent, or by nearly 1,800 jobs, since the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency started to crack down on mountaintop removal mining operations in Central Appalachia. Those policies have made President Barack Obama deeply unpopular in the coalfields."
Sounds like they wrote to make it seem like Obama is the problem of job losses or gains...

(35,364 posts)still not sure what it said. I figure the paper wrote it that way on purpose to make it look bad for Obama.

(35,364 posts)that made me aware of the story today. One of them was a former local president and another was the
chair of the safety committee at his mine. They interpreted the article the same as I did that there was a
net gain of 500 jobs. It's a very poorly written story. All I know is the mines in this area have been begging for
qualified miners the last couple years. Now in the last couple weeks one non union mine operator has been laying off his employees and blaming Obama. The operators name is Bob Murray he was the operator of the mine out in Utah where all the guys were killed a couple years ago. He hosted a $2500 a plate dinner here for Rmoney this spring and he has billboards posted everywhere saying "Stop The War on Coal Fire Obama" he has also supplied all his employees with signs
to post in their yards.
