Racist robocall running in florida... "I is Andrew Gillum. We Negroes . . . done made mud huts.."

https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/01/politics/racist-robocall-florida-andrew-gillum/index.html

The 78-second prerecorded message, obtained by CNN, is narrated by a man speaking in a caricature of a black dialect with cartoonish jungle noises in the background. It ends with a disclaimer that it was paid for by The Road to Power, a white supremacist and anti-Semitic video podcast hosted by Scott Rhodes of Idaho.
The phone message went to Florida residents, but it's unclear how many received it. The Tallahassee Democrat first reported the robocall.
The same neo-Nazi group recently sponsored robocalls in Iowa, using Mollie Tibbetts' death to attack Latinos and promote white supremacy, the Des Moines Register reported. There have also been reports the group previously targeted local officials in California, Virginia and

"Well hello there,” the call begins as the sounds of drums and monkeys can be heard in the background, according to the New York Times. “I is Andrew Gillum."

"We Negroes . . . done made mud huts while white folk waste a bunch of time making their home out of wood an stone."

The speaker goes on to say he'll pass a law letting African Americans evade arrest “if the Negro know fo' sho he didn't do nothin'."

It is unclear how many people heard the call.

Is this what passes for acceptable political discourse? This is vile and disgusting beyond belief.

I do think that a real majority of sensible Americans are appalled by this, but we need to GOTV to ensure that our collective voice of abomination at this behavior and hope for the Great America we have without these buffoons, led by the Buffoon-in-chief.

Months of harassment
One evening last summer, Lee Hardin, a black man, was returning to his car in front of a sandwich shop in downtown Sandpoint with carryout from a nearby Thai restaurant in hand.

A red Jeep had been parked beside his car, and the driver was making a three-point turn to leave.

“As he pulled off, he screamed the N-word at me,” Hardin, 43, recalled in a recent interview. “I turned around and was like, ‘What?’ ”

Hardin said he shouted back, and the driver repeated the slur while speeding away. “And then I was looking, trying to get his license plate, but I never got it.”

Hardin didn’t immediately report that incident to police. But soon afterward, in mid-August, he held a grand opening for his mortgage-lending business and a photo of him appeared in the Daily Bee.

Soon after that, anonymous letters started arriving at his office in intervals of about a week.

Hardin said each envelope had “weird” handwriting on it and contained a single letter on a sticker one might buy from a stationery or craft store.

The first was an “N,” the second an “I,” the third a “G,” and so forth until the letters spelled out the same racial slur. Hardin was on vacation in Hawaii when his business partner texted him a photo of the last letter to arrive, an “R.”

It didn’t stop there. Around the beginning of November, Hardin said, he began receiving catalogs and magazines addressed to “Stu Pidkune.”

The white supremacy thing might have more gravitas if it's subscribers didn't have IQ's in the single digits.

Motivate all the "normal" people to get out to vote against this vile shit, please and thank you.

I hope Ga and Fl both elect their first Black governors on the same day. It'll make my year.

I would think that we should take up a collection here at DU to fund these calls. I've got to believe that for every 100 people that get this call, 99 are going to be disgusted. That 100th person is a racist scumbag who wasn't voting for Gillum anyway. What possible impact, other than angering people, could a call like this make? Even a Klan member getting a call like that is probably going to say "wow, that's some messed up shit". Even in Florida this has to do nothing but harm to their preferred candidate.
