Seahawks owner Paul Allen gives $100,000 to help Republicans keep control of U.S. House

Seahawks owner Paul Allen gives $100,000 to help Republicans keep control of U.S. House

Overall in the 2017-18 election cycle, Paul Allen has donated $173,500 to Republican congressional candidates and PACs compared with $45,900 to Democratic candidates and PACs, FEC records show. (Mike Siegel / The Seattle Times)

The donation went to Protect the House, a committee headed by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. It's the biggest check Allen has ever sent to a federal political candidate or committee, according to a review of Federal Election Commission filings.

Billionaire Seahawks owner and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen this year has made his largest-ever foray into congressional politics, donating $100,000 to a group aiming to keep Republicans in control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The June 14 donation, disclosed in mid-July, went to Protect the House, a committee headed by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. It’s the biggest check Allen has ever sent to a federal political candidate or committee, according to a review of Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.

Protect the House is a joint fundraising committee, a type of group that allows wealthy donors to make a single large contribution which is then divided up among multiple candidates and political-action committees (PACs) across the country.

FEC records show the largest chunk of Allen’s $100,000 was sent to the National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC), which received $33,900. An additional $5,000 went to the Great America Committee, a PAC created by Vice President Mike Pence. More than a dozen other congressional Republicans from Iowa to New York received about $2,600.

Overall in the 2017-18 election cycle, Allen has donated $173,500 to Republican congressional candidates and PACs compared with $45,900 to Democratic candidates and PACs, FEC records show.

.... they recently gave to the ultra rich. That tax break permitted Paul to buy two yachts, a private jet, and a new summer home to go along with his 13 other mansions, 2 other jets, and 4 other yachts.

He heard another tax break is on the drawing board for the ultra rich and he wants to keep the Rethugs in charge so he can cash in on that new windfall coming his way.

This reminds me of the recent battle over the Amazon tax in Seattle. It was just asking too much (about the amount J. Bezos makes in about 15 minutes).

Defensive stars mostly gone. Nobody particularly dangerous on offense outside Wilson. They are trying to fortify the offensive line and take some pressure off Wilson with an improved running game via rookie Rashaad Penny

Yep, the Seahawks are going to suck this year. They've lost a lot of players on both sides of the ball, AND Russell Wilson is playing in his last year of his contract and no matter how great he plays, thuglican fat cat Allen might not want to pay him what other QB's are making on their big, fat contracts. Wilson and Ciara his wife and kids might make a move out of there if he/they don't get what they want.

A lot of turmoil for Seattle moving forward for a few years IMHO. GOOD!!!!

This year, he has given more than $1.2 million in support of Initiative 1639, which would impose additional regulations on firearms, including raising the minimum age to buy semi-automatic weapons to 21 and requiring safe storage of guns at home.

Hey Paul, don;t you know that the gun lover would gladly put you in their target list if you do anything anything that compromises the right of white people to shoot people (which is all the first amendment ever was)
