I Would Not Put It Past Them

I would not put it past the GOP to purge even active voters based on a story I saw this afternoon. It was about a voting activist who has voted in every election getting a letter that they have been purged. And the Secretary of State has under printed registration forms. So there are not enough forms to cover all the voters who have been purged.

It was on one of the progressive sites. Americblog, TPM, Crooks & Liars.

The lady is a voting activist and has been active in getting people registered.

If you think you've got the backing of the American people, you don't need to keep certain people from voting.

We now have a situation where early voting for GOP counties was expanded while reduced in Democratic counties. The law there is screwy.

Someone tonight mentioned that what is going on in Ohio ought to be the top story all over the news. It's not. I can only imagine the response if this was being done by the Democrats to cut back the time for Republicans to vote. Surely the people in Ohio
will not sit still for this, will they? I know the Republicans want to win and will do whatever it takes but this ought to frighten
even the average Republican voter. Do they not realize that if the Repubs can do it to the Dems this time, that maybe next time it
will be them having their voting rights eliminated? Are they really that blind and eager to get Obama out that they will allow
something that is plain wrong be done to achieve their goal?

We live in scary times and I hope somehow we can muster the will to stop this before the November election. The right to vote is
so fundamental to our way of life and when one group plots to restrict the rights of another group, we are on a very slippery slope. Can you imagine if this was going on in another country how it would be portrayed in the US? We would be outraged. And we should be about what's going on in Ohio and all the other states where serious efforts are unfolding that amount to voter suppression.....all of it one party suppressing another party's members right to vote.
