I posted comments and made likes on FB over the last hour with no problems. On Twitter I was only reading.

(1,622 posts)...and stay down forever.
I am an immigrant and have relatives and friends all over the world - FB is an important way for me to stay in touch.

(1,622 posts)...but people stayed in touch with their relatives and friends overseas long before there was Facebook and if it didn't exist, they'd still do it.
Facebook is a convenience, not a necessity. I happen to think that it's evil but that's just my opinion; you obviously see it differently and that's ok.

(2,074 posts)I have a LOT of relatives. Some of them I love, but am not close to. I did not keep in touch prior to FB, and neither did they. That did not mean we weren't glad to reconnect on FB.
No one is forced to use FB. I happen to like it.

(1,622 posts)...You're entitled to your opinion, just as I'm entitled to mine. As long as you're ok with allowing FB to data-mine you and use every single scintilla of your content for whatever nefarious purpose they want to, have at it to your heart's content...

(17,035 posts)I keep getting a message that there is a problem with a link, when I try to post on somebody's OP.
All day today, if I have an OP, I have to choose if I want it on my newsfeed or My Story.

(129,543 posts)I recently bought a Samsung Note 9 and decided to get a Samsung Gear VR headset/controller to use with it for the hell of it. It supposedly needs an adapter for the Note 9 to fit (which I called and ordered for their free one) but I have actually been able to push the phone in the connector just fine (a bit snuggly) so it works.
The VR system uses the Occulus app that you install on the phone (if not already installed - I have Sprint and it wasn't there) and a couple years ago, Occulus was purchased by Facebook. People who have Facebook accounts can login to Occulus with their Facebook account but those of us without Facebook accounts can go on and create a standalone Occulus account.
There was one little VR video demo that I was trying to watch from the Occulus VR videos app through the interface (Star Wars "Repair Bay" or something to that effect) earlier this afternoon, and it hung with a black screen when I tried to watch it.... It finally aborted saying something like "sorry it couldn't connect". Tried a couple times and it gave the same error.
I just tried it now (a few hours later) and it worked.
So this was an interesting post that may have explained my brief issue.
