.@SenatorLeahy points out that while he was chairman for the Kagan hearing, "We had 99% of her records from the White House made public 12 days before the hearing. With Kavanaugh we have 7%, and only 4% are public... what's being done here is unprecedented. What are we hiding?"

(21,946 posts)get it done, they won't be able to. Therefore they will lie, cheat, steal to do it to it. Just like they always do.
Whatta bunch of crooks, cheaters, traitors in the trump party we've never seen before this, and I'm not exaggerating.

(26,760 posts)I "get" the purpose for the mock anger... we need to provide cover for a handful of Democratic senators to vote against him who would otherwise vote for him. They can say "I was willing to vote for the nominee, but Republicans kept me from completing the necessary work" - and maybe that will work... They also need to provide cover for themselves when some of the base irrationally blames them for not stopping Kavanaugh when they all know that there is no stopping him. This way it looks like they fought the good fight and Republicans succeeded in cheating them.
But 4%? Seriously? By far the most relevant information in a SCOTUS nominee is his hundreds of appellate court decisions and even larger number of votes. Essentially ALL of that is in the public sphere. Eventually some sharp Republican (insert joke here) is going to ask why we can't come up with anything objectionable from that record?
