9:11 PM PT: Huffington Post is reporting that it's Ryan:
Mitt Romney will announce Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as his running mate on Saturday, according to two sources with knowledge of the decision. Ryan is a bold pick who will energize the Republican Party, but putting him on the ticket is fraught with risk and instantly puts Ryan's budget plan front and center in the 2012 campaign.
(I predicted this would happen--selecting Ryan--but a part of me felt that he wouldn't because it puts the Ryan budget on the table which eliminates Medicare as we know it. Every Democratic congressional candidate in the country, as well as the president, will be running against this budget! It will be interesting to see how they will defend gutting Medicare, cutting Social Security and providing more tax cuts for the rich?)

(24,411 posts)Selecting a candidate who has repeatedly boasted about his plans to gut Medicaid--means that anyone over the age of 45 will be sporting Obama bumper stickers.
Pick a candidate who will ensure the loss of the senior vote--and practically hand Obama Florida?
That's bold. That's ballsy. That's Mittens.

(12,547 posts)The Ryan plan is nothing more than a strategy for winnowing the baby boomer generation by cutting off health care for aging boomers. It's soft genocide directed at the most vulnerable. What do you expect from predatory capitalists born with silver spoons? America needs a serious realignment and radical redistribution of wealth. Reagan's legacy is the bane of civil society.

Howard Dean was right, 50 state strategy to kick the shit out of them in the House, Senate, POTUS, and all state elected offices! Let's knock the Republican party back into the stone age where they belong. We need CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM once we get our guys and gals in office. Dems need to make this the number 1 plank in our platform!
