I don't buy the whole Kelly babysitting Trump to save the nation angle

I see him as a hybrid of everything most of us here seem to loathe about Sessions and Miller (dial Sessions smugness up by a factor of 10 and dial Miller's creepiness down by a factor of 100) in a uniform. This administration is probably the only chance the guy sees to push his desired subjugation of all non-white male cultures as far as possible. Also, his unrepentant lying about Representative Wilson and cover-up of those assholes Rob Porter and Shane Tomko ensure that I'll never trust anything he says (including that laughable "statement" he supposedly released today to counter Bob Woodward's leaked book excerpts).

But he didn't start there.

He started as Sec. of DHS, a role which DOESN'T provide for keeping Trump from doing something impulsive like a nuclear launch, nor keep the crazy WH staffers from getting in Trump's ear, nor keep Trump from having access to the worst possible things he might sign just to feel important... So why did he accept that role in the Trump admin, huh? If Trump is such a disaster, why associate yourself with him in a role which cannot prevent bad stuff from happening? Where was the noble, self-less angle at the beginning? There wasn't one. B/c he's not noble and self-less.

As Sec. of DHS he set the ball rolling for the family separation policy and sending ICE against non-white legal US residents. He was a full-throated participant in, if the THE driver of, every racist policy pursued by DHS from the beginning of the Trump admin. And none of that had anything to due with "being the grownup in the room."

I don't buy it either. He's a racist sh*tbird through and through, and a traitor to the oaths he swore. F*ck John Kelly. I don't care if he recognizes that Trump is a f*cking train wreck of a human being, so does every thinking person.

People need to recognize that Bob Woodward quoting Kelly thusly does not imperil Kelly, it normalizes and legitimizes him. That is the goddamned scam that Woodward runs. He (accurately) quotes Repuke insiders trashing their boss, which makes it seem like he's burning them by getting their boss mad, but really it makes those same Repuke insiders get a pass from independents and left-wingers who hate their boss. But it's the lower level Repuke functionaries who enact all the damaging sh*t! They should be held to account for it.

WE NEED TO BE SLAMMING ALL OF THEM. Even those who are quoted as slamming Trump.

Crap! You make excellent points, but I really hope what I quoted from you doesn't happen to any meaningful extent. I know I won't give ANYONE in this administration a pass.
