And if we can keep magnifying it further . . . that still might be worth doing.

It's like the conservative argument. It's simply and doesn't require much thought. Then I met reality and realized what a foolish position I was holding.

Political donation limits must be installed to curb the influence of the wealthiest like Paul Allen.

longer and longer...make each election cycle shorter too, and get the big money out of politics...this big money isn't representing the common everyday American their issues (they pretend that they are representing us, but in truth, they're not.

It seems like a natural flow of things...businesses get corrupt and attempt to bypass rules and so forth (put there because of other earlier like businesses that gutted the environment, ignored the rule of law and so forth) ===> totally rules-free environment where they (businesses) have no rules, thus leading them to dump their crap into our rivers and streams, pollute the air, break the laws, get even more corrupt...

and then you have the movement to the other side of the fence, where rules, laws, polluters, and criminals in charge of these businesses are caught and prosecuted with the fullest extent of the law...I'd prefer this environment where I know that a clean environment, a fair and equal business environment, and a crime free marketplace is the norm...if not for me, for the kids following us, watching and emulating all of us on DU and the like across the country...

California's "two terms and you're out" do nothing but churn politicians and empower lobbyists.

...make connections...forge relationships...learn the jargon... They get re elected cuz their ppl like them and want the person to represent them. Term limits are up to the voters, I feel.

and limits on how long we have to pay Congressional “benefits”.
I’m not entirely against term limits, as well.
Big $ is the massive problem, but the arrogance and complacency of no term limits creates the basis of less accountability.

15. Agree, set their pension to a % of their salary based on years served

1% per year of service based on their high 3 years. That's the formula for Fed workers to go with SS and whatever goes into a 401K. Let them pay for the Fed Health plan out of pocket too.

30% of $150K is $45K, that's a base pension to build on and goes a long way in many parts of the country.
