NYT Anonymous Op Ed: I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration

Anonymous official: "There were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment...But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis. So we will do what we can to steer the administration in the right direction until — one way or another — it’s over."

Opinion

I work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

President Trump is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader.

It’s not just that the special counsel looms large. Or that the country is bitterly divided over Mr. Trump’s leadership. Or even that his party might well lose the House to an opposition hellbent on his downfall.

The dilemma — which he does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

I would know. I am one of them.

...............

The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making.

The Kavanaugh hearings? He's getting through regardless of what media attention he gets.

If these insiders had the slightest shred of guts or patriotism
they'd stop thinking about their own reputations and
actually work to depose Trump. Just do it.

but none of these people were elected. The west wing is effectively being run by a bunch of unelected people. If they were truly patriots they would invoke the 25th Amendment and work to get him out of there.

9. I Do Not Like This Op-Ed

I do not like this Op-Ed. Not because the writer was allowed to remain anonymous, but because the writer was allowed to push some of the same memes that Donald Trump has pushed. The writer took multiple shots at the same groups at which Trump has taken shots. The writer promoted the idea that many in the media and many on the left just want Trump to fail. The writer pushed the idea that Trump's policies have made the country and the military better. How have any of Trump's policies have made the military "more robust"? Has his gutting of regulations really made this country better, or safer? Next, the writer pushed the idea that the media has made Trump staffers out to be villains. When has the media tried to make any of Trump staffers a villain? Which one of Trump's staffers has been made into a villain? The media has just been willing to tell the truth about Trump staffers. It is not the fault of the media if Trump staffers choose to lie to protect Donald Trump instead of telling the truth. There is nothing wrong with the media pointing out a misleading statement when one is spoken.
