Clearly somebody high up in the administration wants somebody to read that. But who? Trump himself? Kelly?

(49,013 posts)I refreshed my screen and your OP was what I saw.
It is symptomatic of an attitude that feels "I'm clued in so I don't need to provide context". I'm not wanting to get down on you personally, just that the pattern could be improved.

(115,761 posts)From the White House to executive branch departments and agencies, senior officials will privately admit their daily disbelief at the commander in chiefs comments and actions. Most are working to insulate their operations from his whims.
Meetings with him veer off topic and off the rails, he engages in repetitive rants, and his impulsiveness results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions that have to be walked back.
There is literally no telling whether he might change his mind from one minute to the next, a top official complained to me recently, exasperated by an Oval Office meeting at which the president flip-flopped on a major policy decision hed made only a week earlier.

Do you think it's a reach-out to the other so-called Resistors? Could be.
ETA: my stomach churns at them thinking and portraying themselves as heroes of any kind. They, imho, are cowards.

(12,661 posts)However, I'm thinking it's also a warning to the GOP legislature that they need to stop pandering to someone who is on their way out and toss the excess weight overboard, or the gravy train will be stopped before it gets to the station.
Thing to remember - collaborators don't get to be called heroes, no matter how much damage they try to mitigate "working on the inside".

If they continue to refuse to do their constitutionally mandated jobs, it is up to the voters (assuming the upcoming election is fair and honest).
They are fine with tax cuts and destruction of social programs and outlawing abortion, but not so happy about alienating trading partners, strong arming our national security allies, the abusive out in the open nepotism and grifting, and kissing Putin's ass.
