Two Guys Sneak A Fake Poster Of Themselves Into McDonald's To Make A Point About Equality

Creative Activism FTW !!

Twitter user Jevh M (@jevholution) recently noticed there was a glaring lack of asians featured on the walls of his local McDonald’s. So, in what can only be called an act of true ingenuity, he created a professional-looking poster with his mate and hung it up on the restaurant wall, where it still remains, 51 days later.

The 21-year-old University of Houston student announced this legendary feat In a viral tweet that has racked up over 683,000 likes and over 170,00 retweets since Sunday. “I noticed there was a blank wall at McDonald’s so i decided to make this fake poster of me and my friend,” wrote Jehv Maravilla. “It’s now been 51 days since I hung it up.”

...

According to Click2Houston, the McDonald’s franchisee released the following statement: “We take pride in highlighting diversity in every aspect of our restaurants. We applaud these students’ creativity and hope to see them in our restaurants again soon.”

“I kind of hope they will ask us to be representative models for them,” Maravilla told KHOU, “like, for Asian men. That would be insane if they did that! It would be, like, a dream come true.”

If you haven't seen it, it was about high schoolers in Orange County, CA. There were no Asians in the cast. In fact, even in the background scenes, there were no Asians in the restaurants or even walking around.

I live in LA for a while, and I told people that doing a show about high school life in OC and not having any Asians would be like doing a show about life in Miami without any Cubans.
