where he stands on those issues. Unless they believe that he's going to lie or contradict himself under oath, and that they will be able to prove it, they are wasting their limited question time on posturing for D voters and thereby not actually trying to derail his nomination... his positions on abortion and ethnicity-based policies are WHY Repub Senators are going to vote to confirm him. You won't change anyone's vote by revealing his biases there.
If you want to peel away a couple Repub Senators -- the only possible way Kavanaugh doesn't get confirmed, remember -- you need to expose personal behavior which disqualifies him. Lying under oath, participation in criminal conspiracies (like Leahy revealed), his strange 6-figure debts which have repeatedly appeared and then rapidly mysteriously evaporated. You need to expose him PERSONALLY as corrupt and deceitful. Because the GOP is ENTIRELY on board with his political views.

(102,378 posts)The Dems should definitely go after the evidence to the contrary. If nothing else, the lies upon which Collins (and possibly Murkowsky) are pinning their support will be exposed to their voters.

(2,125 posts)I think the focus on social issues (such as R v. W) are whistles to Collins and Murkowski (and perhaps some others).

(9,897 posts)The whole fucking charade was rigged from the moment the goddamn Kentucky Turtle got wind of the plot to install Trump from his wife and her contacts...then they torpedoed Garland, installed Gorsuch and planned this from the start. Trump is nothing more than their useful idiot and they are going to cut him loose as soon as they have stacked SCOTUS for the next 25 years...
It is time to blow up the entire court and start over with 10 year terms and a justice's ability to serve two and only two such terms...no more lifetime appointments and no more 35+ years on the bench.
