(112,445 posts)are from the most vulnerable states in the 2018 elections and the fifth senator, Doug Jones, will have a tough battle in 2020.
For the Republicans side, Flake is resigning while Murkowski and Collins aren't up for re-election in 2018.
It will be interesting to see what occurs in a roll call vote in the Senate because Collins is the first in alphabetical order, Flake is third, and Murkowski is last. If Collins passes, then Donnelly should also. If Flake also passes, then the remaining Democrats should do the same to force Murkowski to be the 49th senator to say aye and force Collins to be the senator that casts the 50th vote which is what it would take to approve Kavanaugh. That allows Flake to vote "no" and allow Pence to break the tie. Let it be a reminder to all women that Collins and Murkowski were the senators that cast the votes that put the jerk onto the Supreme Court and face re-election weighing them down.
