Compassionate Conservatism vs. Severe Conservatism

The GOP's electoral chances have always been better when they don't tell the American people what they intend to do until after they are in office. W didn't talk about privatizing Social Security until after his reelection and he dropped it quickly when he felt the backlash.
Willard has uncloaked his severe conservatism not just by saying the words but also by choosing the Rand acolyte as his running mate.
We should be able to do to this reincarnation of Goldwater's offer of a choice not an echo what we did to the RW in '64. But make no mistake about it, to lose to these extremists will be devastating to the country.

has always seemed like an oxymoron to me. Severe Conservatism seems more truthful.

Compassionate Conservatism was an ad slogan to hide the cruel reality of the RW Social Darwinism. Now that they are telegraphing their abject fealty to the 1%.
