(6,932 posts)If the Secret Service is going to detain and question everyone who disagrees with SHITLER they better hire 10,000 more agents.

(6,932 posts)It would have been one thing if he would have maybe dones something stupid like cocking a "gun" with his hand gesture or made punching strokes at Trump but all he did was look puzzled and wondering what the HELL Trump was promising those knuckle draggers. Hell protesters outside the WH do more with signs and yelling than that guy did.
I would have asked for an attorney and seen what they said. STAND UP to this kind of Hitler BS!!!

(872 posts)Linfesty said he also had a picture taken by the Trump campaign before the rally while he was wearing the DSA rose and posing with the president. He has not seen the picture since, he said Friday. As a joke, he also gave a copy of the "Communist Manifesto" wrapped with an "Art of the Deal" cover to Secret Service in hopes of having the president sign it. Agents did not grant his request, and the president didn't sign the book, he said.
"I didn't do it because I'm a communist," Linfesty said. "I did it because I thought it was funny as a joke."

(27,818 posts)... was on with Don Lemon (CNN) earlier. He said the SS were extremely courteous - they asked to see his ID, and then told him to leave the venue.
It had nothing to do with "not clapping", and there was no "interrogation".
There are real battles to be fought - this isn't one of them.

(53,342 posts)He was pulled away by a handler or someone sent by a handler who then in all probability involved SS
All the kid do was not smile and not clap on cue

I think I'll go with his version of events, rather than yours.

(6,279 posts)From the Billings Gazette piece linked in the tweet in the OP:
It does seem he didn't feel intimidated, yet, it's also clear the campaign decided he and, ultimately, his friends were not a suitable backdrop
Later Linfesty pinned a stylized rose emblem representing the Democratic Socialists of America to his right breast. The same group of staffers reviewed a photo of the emblem and searched online for more information. A short while later, Linfesty was removed.
"I saw this woman walking toward me on the left," he said. "She just said to me, 'I'm going to replace you.'"

(27,818 posts)... while Trump was speaking, in reaction to what was being said. His facial expressions were shall we say not what youd want on camera in the circumstances. They ranged from incredulous to huh he said what?.
Security probably suspected he was an anti-Trumper who was deliberately messing-up the camera view and might have worried that he was planning something more untoward.
He was not the least bit intimidated, and made a point of saying how courteously he was treated.
Why people are trying to make this incident into a cause celebre is beyond me. It's the perfect example of the term "nothing-burger".

(646 posts)Yes, it is a "nothing-burger" in the serious sense but I have laughed out loud by myself a number of times watching this kid and the expressions on his face. To read of his other little jokes makes the story even funnier. He is a 17-year old boy! Clearly, he planned ahead and was punking the adults--the book, the rose. Please--just enjoy his antics. Allow yourself the time to appreciate his efforts and share in his humor.

(6,930 posts)spectacle, I might add. There were a lot of clean cut young guys running around with ear thingies and wearing suits. I was quite sure none of these were SS, but simply playing a part. They were obviously part of a local student group. I can imagine that theyd love to play the part of an SS agent to some unsuspecting kid. Unless someone shows me ID identifying themselves as a bona fida agent, I would not believe they were.

(206,043 posts)One would think that anyone who's contemplating running for office would be pleased that the next generation is taking enough of an interest that they'd attend. And it's not like he caused a disturbance... or blew his nose on the flag.

(758 posts)Was he one of the $paid$ attendees? If not paid, how can they demand you "look excited and clap"? If you are a regular person attending a rally, how can you be replaced? Do they say, if you sit here behind the Orange One you must act like a zealot?
Rhiannon12866
(206,043 posts)But it's like others have said today, this is like some autocratic regime - act like a crazed zealot or you're out! Has this ever happened with any other American candidate or public official??

Since when did the Secret Service become a political suppression tool? Next they will be wearing lightning bolt insignia.

(23,569 posts)plaid shirt guy said the secret service was very respectful and he didn't seem bothered by it. There are a lot of crazies out there making death threats.
Seems like the Secret Service handled this the right way - and exactly how they would for any POTUS.
