Although the police chief said Friday that an arrest warrant for manslaughter was being issued against the officer, the Associated Press reported Saturday that one was not issued because the Texas Rangers wanted to wait while its investigated. Its not clear whether one will be issued, AP reported.
Hmmm
No pic, no name, @#$% explanation.

(62,276 posts)He wasn't like less fortunate African American males that police easily prey on who are screwed over by their circumstances. He was a community member, well respected and liked, went to church, was a singer at college. Very soft spoken, never got in to fights. I'd be surprised if the guy had a speeding ticket.

On LinkedIn, Botham Jean described himself as an aspiring young professional who was engaged in developing a career built upon integrity, dedication and relationships, leveraging useful technologies to gain an understanding of and add value in a range of industries, striving towards leadership in my career, my community and society.
He was working in Dallas as a risk assurance associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers, according to his LinkedIn page. In college, he was president of a Young Leaders group.
Botham Jean was exactly the sort of citizen we want to have in the City of Dallas, the mayor told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. A professional a believer in his church, a neighbor to his friends. A man that always had a smile on his face. And for that reason, this is a terrible, terrible thing that has happened. Not only has he lost his life, but weve lost a potential leader for this city.

(62,276 posts)She's pacing back and forth like a criminal caught in the act.
If she cared about her victim she would've followed the stretcher to the ambulance.
But nope, she was told not to talk. Because cops know that if they talk if they're honest they will be screwed. Their main objective is lying and obfuscating.

'There are many facts that need to be looked at before determining what type of homicide it is.'
The Senator was passionate in explaining he wanted to see charges laid, and to ensure the officer was not given any special treatment because of her job.

(62,276 posts)What pretzel logic here. Of course he surprised her, she thought it was her apartment, and she murdered him. That's not relevant to the case at all.

(9,527 posts)The chief said it isn't clear what "the interaction was between her and the victim. Then at some point she fired her weapon striking the victim."
I'm not sure how she could have been that mistaken that she broke into somebody else's apartment. Maybe he didn't lock the door, but I would expect that she would have tried her key which wouldn't have worked. I suspect there is something more that isn't known yet. A personal relationship, she was on some sort of drugs, something.

(32,475 posts)Strange story
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)From what I understand the key didn't work in the lock and she ordered him to "open the door!" He confusingly complied with the officers command and when he did so she saw a "scary black man" and murdered him in his own home. It wasn't until she looked at the interior of the house that she realized that it wasn't her house.
Any other case we'd have the 911 call released, etc. But of course they cover for the cops and they're not releasing it.

(62,276 posts)I once had a very drunk girl come to my door before. She put the key in. Jiggled the doorknob. I went to the door, opened it (chain on) and she started pushing her way in. I closed the door on her and locked it telling her to go away.
Here's what I think happened to her:
She goes, tries to open the door, it's not working, he answers the door, but she yells out commands, and he closes it unsure as to what's going on or presses back against it. She yells "open up!" and he opens it, at this point her insane cop brain kicks in and she assumes the absolute worst and just kills the "black intruder."

"New video has emerged of the immediate aftermath of a deadly shooting on Thursday which saw a black accountant gunned down by a white police woman after she mistakenly entered his home thinking it was hers.
The footage shows a female cop crying into her phone on a walkway of the Dallas apartment block seconds before 26-year-old Botham Jean is pulled past on a trolley as medics desperately try to revive him.
The officer was named on Saturday as Amber Guyger, who had worked for Dallas Police Department for four years on the Southeast Patrol Division. She has been charged with manslaughter."
