Because of Ryan it's more important now than ever to get involved to help Obama get re-elected.

I know we are all chuckling that Rmoney picked a Munster for VP that believes in more tax cuts for the rich by death camps for the elderly. I get it that President Obama's term Romneyhood became even more true this morning .....

***********BUT**************

Do not lose sight for one second that Mitt probably has billions from the Koch Bros, Sheldon, and owners of garbage pizzas that will be used to carpet bomb the airwaves with lies about everything we liberals believe in. And that there are enough low information voters out there that will believe those lies. Just look at how many people still believe our President is a Muslim.

Do not lose sight for one second that GOPer Guvs all over this country are figuring out ways to suppress the votes of seniors and minorities.
We KNOW that we are on the right side of issues like Medicare and Social Security, and that President Obama should win Florida in a landslide - but that won't happen if many of those very Seniors are unable to vote.

Do not lose sight for one second that here we go again, another major election, and still NOTHING has been done to protect our vote. We are still voting on Diebold machines without a paper ballot. Don't ever forget Bush v Gore - and who is sitting on the Supreme Ct at this very moment.

I know money is tight, very tight for alot of us. Myself included. But if everyone of us that is a member of DU donated just $1 a month - that would add up to a nice sum of money. Maybe even help pay for a couple of commercials in swing states.

I know we lead busy lives, but even if you could donate just 1 hr a month to stuff envelopes or make a few phone calls, you could make a difference. In 2008 I was at a meeting in downtown Phoenix. As I was leaving to head back to suburbia, I missed my turn, went a different way to get back on the freeway and saw an Obama volunteer office. I stopped. I had less than 1 hour before I really needed to head home. I went in, introduced myself, told them I had 45 minutes & what could I do to help. They put me on the phones. I convinced one person to give Obama another look. One person at a time, that's what we need to do.

Here at DU, we know what is going on. We live and breathe politics. It is so much easier than you realize to get the word out and educate those people who are not paying attention to politics & vote for GOPers just because that's what they always have done. Or to try and give some facts to faux news watchers.

***********************

Just think for a moment of Rmoney & Ryan in the Whitehouse doing everything in their power, and they will have power, to widen the gap between the 1% and the rest of us. Think about your kids growing up without social security benefits or healthcare. A war with Iran. Supreme Court judges. Bailouts for Banksters, but none for GM. IT COULD HAPPEN. The Kochs and the Karls of the world will do anything and everything to win.

If that doesn't motivate you to get involved & donate what you can, then I give up.

it raised the stakes. I think that's a good thing, and I think it means Obama's re-election will be more meaningful, but if Obama loses it will be worse.

He's politically saavy and a good talker and able to convince many that his extremist policies are a good idea, no matter how psychopathic and damaging they really are.

There's literally one billion dollars about to be thrown at President Obama and Democrats in general from the rushpublicans and their corporate SuperPac masters. We'll hear lies, distortions and outright inflamatory memes that will get shriller and more desperate as we get close to election day.

Picking Ryan is definitely an attempt to energize the teabaggers...but in an effort to maintain their hold on the House and attempt to take the Senate. If Willard wins, that's all well and good, but the end game for the rushpublicans is to hold onto the legislative and step up the obstructionism. The long picture here is 2016...use a second Obama term to further weaken the economy and the Democratic brand so that there's the chance to push a bagger into the exeuctive and consolidate their hold on the other branches.

Democrats can't or shouldn't think this election is a done deal or look only at the top of the ticket. GOTV will be more crucial than ever and this means downticket races as much as the top of the ticket. Don't expect President Obama to have long coattails and that there's a lot of corporate money being thrown on House and Senate races.

but is there any chance Romney would drop out now and Ryan would be the candidate for 2012? Could that possibly happen?
