like they used to do when a new Harry Potter came out.
It would have been so much fun to meet so many like minded people at the bookstore. We could have dressed up as a political/historical figure from any one of his books. I think I would have gone as Katherine Graham.

I'm not very far into it yet, but historic facts are laid out and it's very well written.
I'll be waiting for the library to get Bob's new book

(58,785 posts)for some while. Since used books started selling on line for almost nothing, browsing books has made insomnia fun, and our drop-leaf dining cum library table always has some waiting for us to get to them.
What I regret, though, is that our Kindle versions aren't compatible with the library system, but we'll make sure they are when they have to be replaced.

(11,343 posts)I just can't get rid of my book collection. I've read all of them, mostly more than once.
I'm not gonna add any new books though. I like going to the library and "studying" lol. It would be a very sad day to see my library close.

(58,785 posts)I finally surpassed the point at which I have too many books, and have started not just culling but cutting back. I also reread my favorites. Problem is, an almost infinite supply of really fine paperback and hard cover books is a few keystrokes away for almost nothing, while the same quality of material is far more expensive electronically.
If it weren't for sea level rise, we'd probably eventually downsize to a little mobile home on the water in Florida which happens to be within walking distance of two libraries, the bigger one a healthy walk over a long bridge. Sigh.
Happy reading!
