Almost everyone else got gold or a gold-hued metal. I was a practical person who didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on something that could be lost down the drain in a space of a blink, so I selected a stainless steel one for about $80. I swear my ring looked so much better than everyone else's real or cheap gold ones, even with the teeny diamonds.

I think gold looks good as an accent color, but when there's a lot of it, it comes off cheap.

The building outside the window looks like the old Plaza Hotel which is across Fifth Avenue from Trump Tower.

The desk Trump is sitting at is not the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.

Lastly, compare that office with the infamous gif of Trump when they put a bald eagle on his desk. It's the same office.

I think that's Trump's office in New York.

the gold drapes overcome all the other colors.
It's the same problem with that penthouse of his in Trump Tower. Every surface color was various tones of of gold;
ceiling, floor, furniture, drapes, etc. No place for the eyes to rest.
It looks as if someone went berserk with cans of gold leaf spray.

Dark colors are richer and look more expensive. You don't normally see what would be considered a well-furnished or "stylish" house with just plain white or beige walls. It's a myth that dark colors make a room look smaller - exactly the opposite: dark colors recede and make the room look larger and furniture look brighter and cleaner and more prominent. Darker colors also tend not get dingy like white.

My mom insisted she needed a new couch because the old one was dirty and dingy. I said, "Give me twenty dollars and an afternoon." I painted the wall behind the couch a deep tomato red ("no you can't paint the wall red it will look like blood and people will think we're vampires!" ) leaving a taped-off two-inch white border around the edges (so it would be easier to paint over when they vacated the apartment) and she LOVED it once she saw the full effect. The couch looked more attractive in front of it and I saved her $400 on a new one.
