I obviously don't have a good enough imagination.

(6,457 posts)Who would have guessed a Russian agent could steal the reigns of our government via Russia stealing the vote? It seems absolutely unbelievable, which is why PUtin thought he'd get away with it.
Never in 100 years could I have imagined this clod.

(19,479 posts)And I said the same about Dubya.
Now I'm afraid to say the same about Trump.

(10,829 posts)The Bush&Cheney years were beyond dreadful. But even they are being rehabilitated because of the Trumpster.
I think we're at the bottom rung within the darkness. Although I hesitate to say that because this is only year 2 of the Trumpster and his odious acolytes destroying the country's faith in itself.
Eyes on November, so we can step back into the Light.

(28,795 posts)i was so disgusted by gw and his terrible presidency and yet so naive, i thought the republican party would go away after that! whew was i wrong, they were just getting started.
trump is so bad. it's all over today how he bragged about having the tallest building in NYC now that the WTC had come down, and that is disgusting. but we should not forget that bush and cheney and their cabal picked up the 911 ball and drove it straight into Iraq, started a complete clusterfuck of a misbegotten war, killed uncounted numbers of innocent people (up to a million), cratered the economy, tortured prisoners, etc, etc, etc.
to this day the US is engaged in this endless war. Soldiers are sent back over and over and over, and they are destroyed. 22 suicides a day among veterans. PTSD. homelessness and joblessness.
at the end of the day even though trump makes him seem like a statesman in comparison, bush was really bad for this country. having said all that, trump is worse and if he's not removed from office somehow, the damage he does will be worse and longer lasting than any other president yet.
History doesnt have to be rewritten because the current "president" is so despicable. Two leaders can both be horrors at the same time. There's no reason to inflate one's worth to understand how bad the other is.

(100,076 posts)And given that he did succeed. If such a tragedy were to repeat itself (god forbid) there's no way in hell Trump would ever act even slightly presidential. And he's definitely not acting like it today, on the anniversary of 9/11.
