What if Jeff Sessions decides to quit?

Spanky is still at it, treating him like his personal piñata. I have no love for Sessions - he's a nasty, racist little man - but he knows he's a dead man walking and that he'll almost certainly be sacked right after the elections. So, considering that Mueller's investigation probably won't be producing any blockbuster announcements or indictments until then, what if, just to stir the pot, Sessions decides he's just fucking had it, and sometime in late October, announces his resignation, effective immediately? The inevitable constitutional crisis could then occur before the elections, and would be an even bigger deal than anything Mueller could do short of indicting Don Jr. and Jared. So then Sessions' departure makes Rosenstein the acting AG. Spanky will want to fire him, of course, in order to fire Mueller; but Rosenstein's position has been clear, that he would not fire Mueller without cause, which doesn't exist. So maybe we're in Saturday Night Massacre territory. Even if Spanky doesn't fire Rosenstein or Mueller right then and there, the whole Russia issue, with all its indictments, plea deals, convictions and other baggage, will be front and center - right before the elections. Maybe it's how Sessions could get his revenge.

I don't actually think this will happen, but the scenario is interesting to contemplate.

It depends on what happens in the Senate in November. How long can DOJ operate without an actual AG? If the GOP gains Senate seats, there will be a new AG by February. If the Senate flips, there will be a knife fight in a phone booth. Anyone remember phone booths?

From there he can roll back voting rights, re-up the war on drugs, prosecute immigrants and generally move the US back to the 1830s. He's not giving that up because of some mean tweets from Trump.

He'll have to give up his life-long dream of ruining the lives of millions of people, so what if he decides to go down with a bang?

I just hear that on NPR. He gave a speech wherein he defended Trump’s hideous policy and lied that without it we would have open borders.
