I work with a woman whose 12 year old grandson died, about 5 years ago. He was a lovely child and his death from a genetic disorder was crushing, not only for his family, but also for those of us who knew this child from his birth until his far too early death.
Friday, someone broke into his mother's house and stole the urn containing his ashes. They didn't take anything of material value, even though there was jewelry, money, computers, etc, right out in the open. The went directly to the room where the ashes were kept.
Some positive thoughts and prayers for this poor family. To lose a child, once, is bad enough. This poor woman has now lost her son twice.

(102,304 posts)My heart aches for this poor family.
Urns are typically made of valuable material. And the value of that material has recently skyrocketed.
There has been a major upswing in the theft of vases, plaques, etc from cemetaries during this bad economy.

(17 posts)He is not those ashes. He cannot be contained in an urn...
(P.S. This is obviously an inside--family--job. Who the hell would steal ashes and leave electronics?)
