I do not like Sarandon. She voted for Jill Stein because she wanted trump to win and for there to be some sort of revolution. Trump has done a ton of damage and Sarandon and Jill Stein supporters do not deserve any credit for increased number of women running. I agree with Debra Messing on this issue https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/celebrity/debra-messing-reignites-her-political-feud-with-susan-sarandon/ar-BBNfcTV
STFU SUSAN, Messing wrote Wednesday afternoon. Oh yes, PLEASE lets give Trump CREDIT. I mean how else are you able to walk out on the street.

See for yourself: our long national nightmare Sarandon and Messing not talking about politics is over!

I agree with Debra Messing and I strongly disagree with Sarandon and any Jill Stein supporters.
A vote for Jill Stein was a vote for trump.

Fuck you, Susan Sarandon!

(82,849 posts)But when you're this cataclysmically wrong, it's time to duck your head and withdraw from the conversation. Or at least own up to being wrong before popping off some more. Sarandon may have thought a sea change in politics would come about with the investiture of Donald Trump, but she obviously missed several salient points (chief among them that Congress predictably remained in Republican hands, and Republicans always assume an electoral win by any margin confers a mandate on them and whatever they decide their agenda is going to be, regardless of what they campaigned on).
Once that catastrophe began to manifest, it would have served Sarandon's credibility to say, "I was wrong. Horribly wrong. With ghastly results." Without that, though, there can't be a way forward for her to continue to comment on the current political scene.

(58,785 posts)it is a moral crime in itself.
Some people are obviously not wired to be politically responsible. They're so carried away by whatever has stirred their emotions and their conceit of moral superiority that they simply don't consider what their actions will do to others.
Doing that would require setting aside illusion and hypocrisy to accept responsibility, and would Sarandon even be capable without counseling? The national trauma of Trump hasn't accomplished it.
There has to be something really problematic going on with anyone who imagines empowering the evils of the right to fight Democrats is the moral thing to do. To a one, they may occasionally deplore something that's happening on the right, but they don't really seem to see it as serious, much less fear it.
A DU "Susan," who wanted to see a disastrously unqualified candidate elected, explained to me the other day that it was a matter of truth and integrity to those capable of loftier virtues. What citizens of high ideals give their country are votes taken as moral stands or statements, not their consequences in the real world.

(49,999 posts)Yes, STFU Susan Sarandon. Nobody (of consequence) cares what you think.
But, she's right. If not for the horror in the White House, we wouldn't be seeing the growth in people on the left entering politics. Of course, she's not the first person to say it. This concept is nothing new.
Whether it's House, Senate, or governor's races, that energy is largely one-sided, according to Deborah Walsh, director of the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University.
...
And since his election, Trump has continued to dump gasoline on the already roaring fire of Democratic women's enthusiasm, according to Rutgers' Walsh.
"I've often thought that if you were an organizer out there trying to organize what is called the resistance or the women organizing the women who are thinking about running," Walsh said, "Donald Trump is the gift that keeps on giving in terms of motivation to stay engaged and stay involved and not lose your enthusiasm."
Everything from policies on health care and immigration to scandals like former White House staff secretary Rob Porter's resignation after allegations of domestic abuse continually combines to keep Democratic women energized, she said.

As far as I am concerned Sarandon is trash, and conned enough naivee people in helping elect trump.
She has absolutely NO credibility, and entirely too much attention is given to that jerk
Who in the f**k is she? She is a rich celebrity, who doesn't have to worry about her healthcare, food, or shelter, and the only purpose she serves is a polarizing figure to divide progressives.

(37,648 posts)Be aware: Some third party activists are all about their movement. They are not on the side of Democrats. They are not against Republicans or bad people in general. They have a goal, which is to push their movement. Some see both of the major parties as the same. They are not always our friends, even though we might think so, because they are closer to our views. They are not.
