13 inches of snow is about 1 inch of rain. So, for this new hurricane,

that means the 36 inches of rain they're predicting would be like 468 inches of SNOW.

So the 3 feet of rain would be like 39 feet of snow.

Try imagining that.

On average, thirteen inches of snow equals one inch of rain in the US, although this ratio can vary from two inches for sleet to nearly fifty inches for very dry, powdery snow under certain conditions.

44 inches in nearby town in 24hrs, at least 28 inches where I was. I have been in hard rain before but this was like a waterfall coming down for a day. Lost all power, water, etc at resort I was at for days.

Very interesting trip, felt sorry for locals. It was hard not being home, at least at home you have flash lights and candles. There was nothing, at least it didn't last long and where I was in Princeville it was higher up so streets didn't flood although during the rain the paths of the resort were like mini rivers.

There was zero advance given to anyone so at least these people have warning to get out.

My part of Wisconsin just had 213.85 inches of snow had it been winter. Yikes.

Wouldn’t wish it on anybody.

Good luck NC

4. Air cold enough to snow could never hold that amount of water.

Unless one is working on a screenplay with a really tenuous grasp on reality, it's a moot point.

warmer air can hold more water. cold air is dryer and holds less air, hence that much water in that cold of air cant happen.
