Amy Schumer backs Gov. Cuomo after donating money to challenger Cynthia Nixon

Actress Amy Schumer threw her support behind Gov. Cuomo’s reelection bid Tuesday, after previously donating $10,000 to primary rival, Cynthia Nixon.

The change of heart, which Schumer chalked up to Nixon’s lack of political experience, comes two days before Cuomo and his nemesis face off in the gubernatorial Democratic primary on Thursday.

“I wanted to vote Nixon, but sadly, i don’t believe she would know what the heck to do,” Schumer wrote in an Instagram post. “She needs to be able to pressure the state legislature in stuff but I don’t believe she has enough connections upstate.”

Nixon, an actress best known for her starring role on HBO’s “Sex and the City,” has attacked Cuomo on his left, aligning with a rise of progressive candidates across the country.
